Service

It has been a while since our last post; we are now eight in our group...this is very exciting...it is great. This week we talked about the importance of providing service to others. There is a sense of joy that we feel when we serve others just to help them. We talked about an imaginary village where people do not help each other. That village would be very dark and unhappy. But a village in which people help and serve each other would be a place of joy.

We are to actively look for an opportunity to provide some help and service to others this week. ...

Tonight one of our friends shown us how to do pencil drawing, she is very artistic and one of her works is showed here in this post; we also took another picture that shows us all drawing...

...and by the way we are getting together this Friday to have pizza and watch a movie ....

A Special Place

In the past two weeks we have been getting together, reading some from the book "Breezes of Confirmation" and then playing some meaningful games and watching some good movies. Last night we read, thought about and talked about lesson number 9 called “A Special Place”.

Summer time is difficult to get together as many of our friends leave to places with their parents; but those of us here have enjoyed coming to our reading circles.

We talked about reflection and confirmation a little more; although a difficult subject, but it is nice :)

We are so happy to have a new Junior Youth Animator with us; she is very kind and a nice person. She is a good friend. With her help last week we draw colorful pictures which we have uploaded to this blog. It is so nice to learn how we could better use colors in our artistic works.

see you all soon;

Prefer Your Brother

Last evening we talked about "Prefer Your Brother" lesson on the Breezes of Confirmation and tried to memorise this line: "Blessed is he who preferreth his brother before himself".

We concluded if we all think this ways and practice it; at a higher level we will not have wars.

And then we had an opportunity to play some ping pong and play some musical instruments.

Good news

Good news is that last evening we had by far the best time. Three additional and new friends came and we had a great "reading circle". We read about "confirmation".

Then we all went out and enjoyed ice-cream ! We also welcome a youth who will be trained to become Junior Youth Animator.... such a wonderful service.

We all look forward to next week's program. Meantime there is an End-of-year Children's Class party on Saturday that we are looking forward to..

more to come....

Junior Youth Program on Tuesday

Last evening we got together and studied this sentence: (we memorized it as well)

"Work done in the spirit of service is the highest form of worship"

We then went to visit an older gentlemen living in a retirement home; to make him happy. He was a sweet man and presented us with candies! He told us a little about his long life and was smiling all the time. We enjoyed it and hope that we could go back and visit him again.

We then played a little on a pool table at the premises where he was living....

Service Project: Cleaning a Neighborhood

Today we were 4 junior youth with our teacher and an older adult; after doing some studying we went out to do an act of service. We had decided to clean a neighborhood around where we get together for the class; so we put on our gloves and took three large garbage bags and went out and cleaned one street. You would think that they are clean; but actually there was lots of trash. Only if we all would pay attention and clean, the faces of our neighborhoods would definitely change.

The Junior Youth group received the following thank you letter.

We look forward in providing other services to our neighborhoods.

Donated to foodbank

May 5, 2010

Today we went to the Aridrie Food Bank and delivered all we had collected. They appreciated our work; although we did not expect it.

We just wanted to serve.
O, our picture is on the left !
So the structure of our program will be:

1- Studies: We will study a well known book called "Breezes of Confirmation"

2- Service Projects: We will prepare ourselves to perform acts of service in Airdrie

3- Learning Activities: We will work hard to enhance our skills and abilities while we learn.

News of 2010

We have not been writing much lately; but the program is moving on full force!

There are 5 members in our group and we do a lot of things together.

(04-May-2010)

1- Last week we went around a neighborhood and asked the community members if they wanted to donate food to the foodbank in Airdrie.
2- Today we went back to thier home and collected food from those who had donated.
3- Tomorrow we will go and give them to the foodbank in Airdrie. People are so generous !

Next week we will begin formally the study of Breezes of Confirmation and start an artistic activity as well..... can't wait....this will bring a little more structure to our program. We hope that soon will join us as well.
